George Kafka is an interdependent writer, editor and curator based in London. He produces texts, publications and exhibitions which explore the political and environmental consequences of architecture and design.

George Kafka is an interdependent writer, editor and curator based in London. He produces texts, publications and exhibitions which explore and communicate the political and environmental consequences of architecture and design.
Between 2021-2024 he was the first Future Observatory curator at the Design Museum, where he ran three cohorts of the Design Researchers in Residence programme. At the Design Museum he curated exhibitions with a particular focus on design and the climate emergency including How to Build a Low-Carbon Home and Tomorrow’s Wardrobe.
As a writer, he has contributed to publications such as BBC Culture, e-flux, Untapped, The Architectural Review, The Avery Review, Eye on Design, FRAME, Metropololis, Disegno, Blueprint and Frieze on topics across architecture, ecology, housing, urbanism, design and contemporary culture.
As an editor and editorial consultant he has worked on texts, magazines, books and websites for Future Observatory, the Design Museum, Migrant Journal, RESOLVE Collective, Space Popular, Floating University, Theatrum Mundi, the Future Architecture platform, uncube, raumlabor, Public Works, Kuehn Malvezzi, Sauerbruch Hutton, Park Books and others.
As a curator he has worked on exhibitions, festivals and other formats for the Design Museum, Canadian Centre for Architecture, Open House Worldwide, Onassis Stegi and the Oslo Architecture Triennale.
George speaks regularly in public, giving lectures, chairing talks or attending project reviews for institutions including the RIBA, British Council, Royal College of Art, Architectural Association and Kingston School of Art.
He has an MSc in Urban Studies from University College London and a BA in Comparative American Studies from the University of Warwick.
