Sonic Urbanism series

Published by Theatrum Mundi, 2018-22
Co-edited with &beyond collective (Sophie Lovell, Fiona Shipwright, Diana Portela, Rob Wilson)
More at sonic.city

Attention is turning more and more to the way cities sound, from experimental music and acoustic engineering to urban anthropology. But can urbanism really be done sonically? Who decides what is wanted and unwanted noise? What can the crafts of music and sonic art teach us about how acoustics structure social life?

The Sonic Urbanism publication series laid out new thinking around sound and the built environment. The books and parallel digital editions (www.sonic.city) now stand as a significant body of work for others to pick up and move, listen, research, design and otherwise think with.

Initiated by Theatrum Mundi in collaboration with &beyond collective in 2018.

Design by Diana Portela.

Archifutures series

Six volumes published by dpr-barcelona for the Future Architecture platform, 2016–20
Co-edited with &beyond collective (Sophie Lovell, Fiona Shipwright, Diana Portela, Rob Wilson)

Archifutures is an edited collection of essays from the Future Architecture Platform, the first pan-European platform of architecture museums, festivals and producers, bringing ideas on the future of cities and architecture closer to the wider public. The platform connected multi-disciplinary emerging talents to high profile institutions like museums, galleries, publishing houses, biennials, and festivals. It provided talented conceptual thinkers and practitioners in architecture with opportunities to speak up – and be seen and heard.

The Future Architecture platform ran from 2015–21 and I wrote about it for Domus in 2019.
